easyHotel appointed Leslie Clark to support the roll-out of a series of low-carbon initiatives across its UK hotel estate, as part of its wider commitment to reducing operational carbon and improving long-term energy performance.
The programme involved the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels and air source heat pumps (ASHPs), alongside the introduction of sub-metering to enable more accurate monitoring of electricity and water usage across multiple sites.
Scope of services
Leslie Clark provided Project Management, Quantity Surveying and CDM Principal Designer services, managing the programme from feasibility through to delivery and completion. This included coordinating key consultants and contractors, as well as liaising closely with the client, landlords, architects and M&E consultants.
Each hotel was assessed on an individual basis, recognising that every site presented its own constraints and operational considerations. This approach enabled a comprehensive, site-specific scope of works to be developed for each location while maintaining consistency across the wider programme.
Installation and delivery
Air source heat pumps were installed at nine hotel sites. At each of these locations, new water storage tanks were installed, and the existing gas supply was fully removed, resulting in a measurable reduction in carbon impact. The installations were completed without adverse effect on the provision of hot water to hotel guests.
Photovoltaic panels were installed on the roofs of seven hotels, contributing to on-site renewable energy generation. In addition, sub-metering was installed at thirteen locations, enabling easyHotel to accurately monitor and manage electricity and water usage across its estate.
All works were carefully phased and coordinated to minimise disruption, ensuring that every hotel remained open and operational for the duration of the programme.
